Trump Praises Elon Musk for Pledging SpaceX Shares to American Children

US President Donald Trump expressed his gratitude to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk for his pledge to donate SpaceX shares to American children participating in the Trump Accounts program. Musk announced his intention to give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States next year, marking the first of several planned contributions. Trump commended Musk’s generosity, noting that the initiative would enable children to gain a stake in the nation’s economic future.

The Trump Accounts program, launched on July 4, aims to assist families in building long-term savings for their children. Under this initiative, the government contributes $1,000 to accounts for children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Parents and other contributors can add up to $5,000 annually, with beneficiaries able to access the funds upon turning 18.

Musk’s pledge follows a similar commitment by SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and her husband, who promised to donate shares to over two million children, primarily in Central Texas. Musk shared his plans on social media, emphasizing his commitment to supporting the financial future of young Americans.

This gesture from Musk also signifies an improvement in relations between him and Trump after a prior public disagreement over the administration’s tax and spending policies. The two have since moved towards reconciliation, with Musk’s recent pledge being a notable step in that direction.
