South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has stepped back from public duties on medical advice following his return from the BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The summit, held from September 12 to 13, focused on topics such as global governance and economic cooperation.

The Presidency announced that Ramaphosa’s medical team recommended rest and recovery, leading to his withdrawal from scheduled public engagements. While he recuperates, government ministers will fill in for him at necessary events. No specific details about the president’s health were disclosed.

This development coincides with Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s own recovery from a medical procedure, leaving both senior leaders temporarily absent from some public responsibilities. Despite their absences, government functions and duties continue to be managed through their respective offices.
