Qatar and Egypt have pledged to deepen their partnership and broaden cooperation across key sectors such as economics, investment, and labor. This commitment was reiterated during a meeting between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, held in Cairo. The discussions took place on the sidelines of the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee.
The two nations celebrated the remarkable growth in their economic relationship, highlighting an 80 percent increase in trade between Qatar and Egypt in 2025. They also noted significant Qatari investments in Egypt, including a notable project for producing sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. These developments underscore the expanding economic collaboration between the two countries.
In addition to economic topics, the discussions covered labor and consular cooperation, as well as regional issues. Both sides emphasized the need to reduce tensions and enhance stability in the region. They particularly focused on the situation in Gaza, agreeing on the importance of ongoing coordination and expressing support for diplomatic approaches to resolving regional disputes.
Further, Qatar and Egypt underscored the significance of maritime security and ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. They stressed that maintaining these principles is crucial for safeguarding international trade routes and enhancing regional stability.
